Starting Line

For over two decades Student Discipleship Ministries has been producing evangelism and discipleship resources for the local church. Our target audience has been teenagers. Until now . . .

Starting Line is SDM’s first resource released for pre-teen and children’s ministry—target audience is 9 to 12 year olds. Starting Line is an easy-to-read, user-friendly devotional guide with a format designed for a student to use on his/her own or be guided through with a parent’s help. The goal is to help young students start and develop spending daily time with God.

Series One is based on Galatians 5:22a—the Fruit of the Spirit—with a different spiritual fruit focused on each week. Series Two is based on the qualities of God found in Proverbs—Wisdom, Discipline, Understanding, Common Sense, Knowledge, Discernment, Integrity, Wise Counsel, and a Good Name. Each week is called a Race.

Each weekday has 2 sections:
Lap—an engaging story, a Bible verse or short passage to read, then a simple, practical application to draw the point of the story and the verses together. Pit Stop with Discussion Questions, an Action Point, a Key Word, and a short Prayer.

The Weekend is called the Victory Lap and has Discussion Questions to wrap up and review the week. The Victory Lap ends with a short teaching point and a closing prayer that contains the week’s Key Words.

Starting Line T-shirts also available in youth and adult sizes. These shirts can be used for promotion to introduce this to your church or as a completion reward for the students.
